Intel has been in a bit of a rough patch lately. They haven’t had CPU Core Count of Memory Channel parity with AMD since 2018. There are rumors of splitting off divisions, or even straight-up buyouts. But the news isn’t all bad, and Intel might VERY WELL be back to old form with the launch of their 6900P Series of Xeon CPUs.
Intel’s newest Xeon CPUs, based around their Granite Rapids architecture, are both innovative and competitive… two things that have been lacking over the last couple launches. Today, we’ll go over the architecture of these new chips, talk about the good, the bad, and how these new CPUs fit into the ever segmented market of HPC and Server compute.
