I was an original user of the Pebble Steel, a smartwatch released all the way back in 2014. It was everything I ever wanted in a smart accessory… elegant, attractive, and honestly, as dumb as possible. It was a smart device that kept it’s feature list small and focused, and filled a very specific need for me, both professionally and personally.
Pebble was purchased by Fitbit back in 2017, and I’ve been wanting the same functionality of my Pebble Steel ever since. But no amount of Samsung Galaxy, Google Wear, Garmin, or even Fitbit device ever filled my needs as well as Pebble.
So when it was announced that Pebble was coming back, with brand new devices, and fully open source, I literally couldn’t place my pre-order fast enough. My Pebble Time 2 was delivered on April 28th of this year, and this video is my experience with it over the last 3 months. Is it everything I remember from over a decade ago, or has TIME since passed it by?
