Every Handheld Gaming PC review I’ve ever done on this channel has included the same repeated phrase… The hardware may be terrific, but Windows is an absolute pain on devices this small. Now the obvious answer is to install SteamOS, except for the fact that it only runs on the Steam Deck itself, and includes no hardware support for other devices.
There have been a number of 3rd Party SteamOS replacements like ChimeraOS and HoloISO, and while they manage to port over Steam’s big picture mode, it’s the lack of hardware integration that holds them back.
Bazzite is aiming to change all of that, by implementing hardware controls such as TDP, customized controls, even RGB lighting, into a custom Fedora OS. So, is it time to finally give Linux a chance on handhelds NOT called the Steam Deck, or is this another wannabe OS that’s more talk than show?
But first… What am I drinking???
